What this wine is
Rions is a small fortified town southeast of the city of Bordeaux, down along the Garonne. Château Beneyt is an 11-hectare family domaine on the river's right bank there, run since 1994 by fifth-generation Joël Vrignaud. It bottles wine under four designations: Cadillac-Côtes-de-Bordeaux, Bordeaux rosé, Bordeaux blanc and Cadillac. The reds lean heavily on Merlot (up to 95% in some cuvées) with Cabernet Franc, and the whites range from pure Sauvignon to blends that add Sémillon.
