The story in this episode
The fifth bottle is William Hill Central Coast Chardonnay 2015, a US$13 supermarket Chardonnay the community rates 3.6 and Dad gave five stars. This is the episode where Haru's 'scent drawer' opens for the first time. When she smells something, the moment she first smelled it comes back whole, date and place included, but she never knows which bottle it was that day. The first drawer throws up the garlic of last Thursday's gambas at the bar; the next brings a rainy autumn evening at the kitchen table when she was twenty-one, pear and honey from a bottle Dad poured with the label hidden. The answer was in Dad's notes, and Master Seo says: "This is the bottle."
